Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by a court since the year and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrates her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts played a crucial role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the care of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice extended beyond her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce, custody, child support and guardianships - as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with an intention to provide a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
